Our Vision
Preaching/ Teaching
We envision a church where the Word of God is handled with reverence, where preaching and teaching ministries unashamedly proclaim the doctrines of God’s holiness and sovereign grace. We envision a church where the solas* of the Protestant Reformation are unwaveringly upheld, where redemption through Christ alone is faithfully preached, but where there is also an earnest appeal to individuals to obey God’s Word and to persevere in their faith as is their responsibility.
Celebration/Worship
We envision a church whose worship exalts the greatness of the triune God and celebrates the wonders of our salvation. We will corporately worship God in a worthy manner through the reading and preaching of God’s Word, fervent prayer, excellent music, giving of offerings, and celebrating the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We envision a church where worship is not contained to the sanctuary, but affects every aspect of the believer’s life.
Spiritual Growth/Spiritual Care
We envision a church where people of all ages and levels of spiritual maturity are being taught God’s Word, being loved, encouraged, and exhorted through sensitive elder care, and small-group and corporate discipleship, and where the whole body is being built-up and, by God’s grace, growing in holiness, and Christ-likeness.
Loving Relationships
We envision a counter-cultural community where joy and acceptance, affirmation and encouragement, sacrificial love and giving, forbearance and grace are the norm, and where individuals strive to resolve conflict biblically, and to God’s glory. We envision a diverse, yet unified body, where individuals, regardless of race, age, sex, or socio-economic background can find God-exalting fellowship. We envision a place where deepening relationships are sought after, and where God-honoring marital and family relationships are pursued.
Gift-Oriented Service
We envision a church which helps its youth and adults to discover and develop their spiritual gifts and guides them into a fruitful and fulfilling place of ministry within and/or outside our local body. We envision a church where empowering leadership equips, supports and entrusts vital ministry to others in the body.
World-Wide Witness
We envision a church where every member is trained in, and committed to, biblical, relational evangelism, where outreach is promoted from the pulpit, in our Sunday School, in our small groups and carried out through periodic events. We envision a people burdened to reach the lost in our community, and boldly bearing witness to Christ.
We envision being a church that seeks to advance the Kingdom of God through planting churches. We envision saturating the greater Harrisburg area with growing neighborhood churches that transform the communities around them.
We envision a church which recruits, equips, and sends out our own members as missionaries, church planters and pastors.
